Fees

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends standard consultation fees for psychologists.  The recommended fee for a standard psychological consultation of 50 minutes is $300.00.  Psychologists are able to vary this fee at their discretion.

Counselling

Our fees for counselling sessions with a Generally Registered Psychologist is $200 per hour. Sessions run for 50 minutes.

Payments

For in-person or Telehealth appointments payment is required on the day of your session. Payments will be processed online via our Halaxy system. For more information about our online payment processing or frequently asked questions, please see here

Minds of Light Psychology are unable to Bulk Bill sessions, payment is due at the time of consultation. 

Cancellation policy 

Late Cancellations / Missed Appointments
If you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice or you do not attend without providing notice, you will be charged the full fee for this session. Please also be aware that rebates through Medicare or private health insurance are not available for cancelled or unattended appointments.

Why We Charge for Late Cancellations

When a cancellation occurs at the last minute, three individuals are affected: your psychologist, who has invested time to prepare for your session; other clients on the waitlist who require therapy and are eager for their turn; and yourself, as you miss the opportunity to connect.

NDIS Plans

At Minds of Light Psychology we are able to support self-managed and plan managed NDIS participants. However, as an unregistered provider, Minds of Light Psychology is unable to provide services to NDIA-managed participants. 

If you are a self-managed client, you are required to pay for services at the time of consultation. A payment receipt can then be submitted to NDIS for reimbursement, this is the responsibility of the client.

Generally Registered Psychologist
$214.41 per hour for psychological services. 

Medicare

Medicare rebates for counselling are available with a GP Mental Health Care Plan and referral. When assessed as eligible, adults and children are able to access up to ten sessions in any calendar year. Rebates are claimed through the Medicare online claim system or by visiting a local Medicare office with proof of receipt provider number and item number.

Private Health Insurance

A partial rebate may be available through private health insurance. It is best to check with your insurance provider to discuss whether your policy has psychological counselling extras. Rebates through private health insurance are not available on consultations where a Medicare rebate is being claimed.
